Chapter Five: The Big Three.
Why did I call this Chapter of my life as “The Big Three”? There are three important things happening during this time of semester break, start of my Third Year in UBD and during my Discovery Year.
Other people may describe my “activities” as unproductive, while I disagree. Spent most of my time watching tv series and anime, specifically catching up with The Big Bang Theory and One Piece. Also, grinded my character up to Level 50. You may wonder, what character? It is an online game character/avatar, the game is called Black Desert Online or BDO for short where “action and adventures await” and it is an open world MMORPG. I can only get a free account in BDO if my character manage to level up to Level 50, and I proudly say I did. BDO was the first of the Big Three and I still play it today.
Three months of semester break gone by and I entered another chapter of my life which involved with UBD; becoming a Third Year student.
Third Year = Discovery Year (DY).
At first, I have had some troubles with my DY. My first DY was supposed to be Community Outreach Programme (COP) in Vietnam and second was Internship in a Government office somewhere in Brunei. However, an unfortunate event happened (where it is impossible to explain it here) relating to my spiritual health and I had to cancel my plan on going to Vietnam as my first choice. I decided to stay in Brunei for both of my DYs.
I continued chosing COP but at Bantu Services with one of my first and closest friend, Raidah/Rai. Bantu Services is a non-government organisation established in 2014 that helps less fortunate families in Brunei Darussalam. Our supervisor’s name is Faiz Zul Hamdi and he supervised, advised and assisted us throughout the four-month programme. There were eight of us altogether and we formed two groups of four people. Raidah and I decided to stick together with another two girls named Wana and Zerah. All three of them are majoring in Sociology so they knew each other before entering Bantu. We formed a group and on the top of my head I named it as Girls on the Go (GotG). From that moment on, the four of us were inseparable and we are still close to this day. Moreover, as part of our COP’s requirement at Bantu, we were asked to create a project that will benefit not only Bantu, but the underprivileged families and us, the students as well. So we came up with the “Mosque Empowerment Project”. In short, our main goal is to make the masjid as a frontline in addressing/dealing with poverty and as a centre for increased communal activities with view of community empowerment.
After completing my four-month COP at Bantu Services on November 2019, my husband and I made a plan back on June 2019 to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary in Kuala Lumpur and we did it. It was his first time flying, we went there for five days and four nights and it truly was wonderful.
We had the “talk” on having kids and we agreed to just go with flow. I still remember what he said to me, “If God wants us to be together just us two with no kids, it’s okay cause I got you and that’s all that matters.” From that moment on, I decided not to think or worry about pregnancy (more like my 2020 New Year’s resolution) because I believe in God’s plan and His timing.
If it’s meant to happen, it will happen at the right time.
